Federal forecasters predict a busy hurricane season

(College Park, MD)  --  Weather experts are predicting a very active hurricane season.  Government forecasters with NOAA say that an above-average to extremely active storm season will start on June 1st.  During the six-month period, NOAA predicts 13 to 20 named storms will form in the Atlantic with seven to 11 of those reaching hurricane strength.  Of those, three to six will become major category three storms or higher with winds over 111-miles-per-hour.  NOAA's administrator says the seasonal forecast should serve as a reminder for coastal residents to get storm-ready.  The annual hurricane season runs through the end of November.
