Former Bulldog Designated For Assignment By Mariners

 

>>Mariners' Morse Rejoins Team 

Mariners outfielder Michael Morse is back with the team after being reinstated from the disabled list yesterday.  The 31-year-old has played in just 11 games for the M's since May 28th and could be trade bait prior to tomorrow's deadline.  In 56 games, Morse is hitting .251 with 11 homers and 23 RBI on the year.  To make room for Morse, Seattle designated for NIC Cardinal and Gonzaga Bulldog Jason Bay for assignment.

>>Mariners Start Series With Red Sox 

The Mariners are in Beantown to start a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox tonight at Fenway Park.  Left-hander Joe Saunders takes his 9-and-9 record to the mound for the M's in tonight's opener.  Boston will counter with rookie Brandon Workman, who is 0-and-1 with a 4.40 ERA in his first few starts.  First pitch is slated for 4:10. 

 

>>Seahawks Back To Work 

After a scheduled day off yesterday, the Seahawks are back to work this morning at training camp in Renton.  The team will hold practice at 10:00 a.m. today through Thursday.  Friday's practice will begin at 1:00 in the afternoon.  The 'Hawks play their first preseason game a week from Thursday in San Diego against the Chargers. 


>>Indians Win

The Spokane Indians and Boise Hawks will play the rubber match of the 5 game series in Boise tonight.  Spokane took game 4 last night with a 5-2 win.  Spokane is now 23-22 over all this season and 3-4 in the second half standings. Spokane returns home tomorrow and take on Salem-Kaiser.
